Highway Traffic Management has recertified as a Disability Confident Committed company, as part of its ongoing dedication to being an inclusive employer. Disability Confident “provides employers with the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to attract, recruit, retain and develop disabled people in the workplace.”

The Disability Confident scheme, initiated by the UK government, encourages employers to challenge perceptions about disability and take proactive steps to improve how they recruit, retain, and develop disabled people.

By re-certifying for Level 1 status, HTM has continued their commitment to:

  1. Ensuring an inclusive and accessible recruitment process
  2. Communicating and promoting vacancies through diverse channels
  3. Offering interviews to disabled candidates who meet the minimum criteria
  4. Anticipating and providing reasonable adjustments as needed
  5. Supporting existing employees who may acquire a disability or long-term health condition, enabling them to remain in work

In addition, HTM is committed to creating opportunities such as work experience and trials for people with disabilities, ensuring flexibility in the interview process, and allowing support persons to attend interviews when necessary.

HR Manager Lucinda Sturman said, “We have been Disability Confident Committed for the past three years. This recertification demonstrates our ongoing commitment to being an inclusive employer.

“This accreditation reflects our ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion, ensuring that our workplace is welcoming and supportive for everyone. We believe that embracing diverse talents not only enriches our company culture but also drives innovation and success.”
