Highway Traffic Management kicked off 2023 by hosting the inaugural ‘Streets Ahead Awards’ ceremony to recognise employees for their hard work and commitment for the 21/22 business year.

The event was hosted in the brand new event space that is based onsite at their Birmingham headquarters, with the facilities being finished in early January as a separate project following the move to the new premises in November. The event space now provides increased capacity for in-house training and development along with the opportunity to host teambuilding events as well as events and ceremonies such as this one.

The ceremony opened with a welcome from Managing Director, Greg Baldwin, and saw employees who had reached 5, 10, 15 and 20 year milestones receive bronze, silver and gold HTM pin badges for their service.

“This space offers another avenue for us to continue our business development and we have already been able to use the space for inductions for new trainee traffic management operatives. It was a privilege to be able to invite our workforce along with clients and suppliers to experience the space for the first time, particularly for such a special occasion,” commented Greg Baldwin, Managing Director.

This was followed by the commencement of the Streets Ahead Awards, which included categories such as ‘Values In Practice’ (VIP’s) for HTM’s company values: Safety, Delivery, Innovation, Collaboration, Social Value and Mental Health, as well as Outstanding Service, Best Newcomer (Operative), Best Newcomer (Management) finishing with the Streets Ahead Awards, one nominated by operatives, one nominated by management and one nominated by clients.

Winners were awarded with a Streets Ahead trophy engraved with their name and subsequent awards category and shook hands with HTM Chairman Keith Baldwin, who said, “It’s been brilliant to hear the nominations for each category and about the good work happening out in the business where employees are demonstrating HTM’s company values. A thoroughly enjoyable evening commemorating the achievements of our people.”

HTM had invited guest judges to present the ‘Streets Ahead’ categories, with attendees from Kier Highways, Cleartrack Performance and HTM’s HR partner, Clover HR.

“This is a proud moment for HTM,” commented guest judge, Michael Doolin (Clover HR).

“It’s fantastic to have witnessed the development and growth of the internal communications with employees over the last 12-18 months. A fantastic moment to have this all culminate in the Streets Ahead Awards ceremony,” said Gary Prout, Account Manager at Cleartrack Performance Limited.

Kier Highways Supply Chain Director, Caroline Hinchcliffe, commended the business, “It’s really important that our supply chain focus on important things like mental health and social value so it’s really inspiring to see one of our suppliers recognising positive behaviours and leading the way in commitment to their teams.”

HTM’s Streets Ahead Awards will return in January 2024.
