- HTM Host Charity Golf Day for Macmillan Cancer Support
This month Highway Traffic Management saw the return of their charity golf day at Nailcote Hall on Thursday 3rd October in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
The temporary traffic management company welcomed teams from WJ South, Acorn Environmental Management Group, Crown Highways, R&C Williams, Up-to-Speed Training and Assessments Ltd (UTS), Kier Transportation and First For Recruit Ltd along with a HTM team, with an impressive £4770 raised in total from the golf day alone.
The day began with a welcome from Managing Director, Greg Baldwin, along with tea, coffee and breakfast baps, before teams took to the course playing 2 rounds of 9 holes with some additional elements added for some fun, including the giant inflatable dartboard which saw Sam Drew crowned champion for a top score of 110 alongside a putting competition to win a Scotty Cameron putter, a prize which went up for auction after no one managed to putt the ball successfully.
“It’s been great getting everyone back together at Nailcote for such a fantastic cause and we were lucky with the weather, getting a day full of sunshine for the occasion,” said MD Greg Baldwin.
“We’re proud to partner with local businesses and industry peers who share our commitment to giving back, with this event demonstrating exactly what we can achieve when we collaborate with our peers.”
Participants were treated to a nerve-wracking playoff hole after there was a tiebreaker between Crown Highways and Acorn Environmental Services, which saw the playoff hole played 3 times to determine the eventual winner, Acorn Environmental Management Group.
The business had a number of prizes up for grabs as part of their raffle, with a Garmin golf watch donated from UTS, a round of golf donated by Nailcote Hall, a round of golf from Crown Highways at JCB’s Golf and Country Club, a round of golf from R&C Williams at The Belfry, one from HTM also at The Belfry, with other prizes including a sparkling afternoon tea at the AC Hotel in the Mailbox, an Overnight stay at the Hilton Garden Inn Brindley Place, an overnight stay including chocolate and bubbles at St Martins Lodge (Leicester), 4 x hospitality spaces at Coventry FC. There were also gift vouchers for the individual winner with the individual loser walking away with 3 hours’ worth of golf lessons at The Belfry.
“We’re incredibly grateful for the generous donations for raffle prizes and for the tickets purchased on the day. Thanks also go to ReFlow for their donation towards the event. The success of the golf day has bumped our fundraising total up to £8,893, so we are extremely close to our £10k target for the year,” added Business Director, Marcus Casey.
“We’re hoping that with another fundraising event planned for later this month, we can get even closer to that final number for Macmillan Cancer Support.”
