Highway Traffic Management (HTM) hosted its internal employee recognition event, the Streets Ahead Awards for FY24–25, celebrating the outstanding achievements, dedication, and values demonstrated by colleagues across the business over the past year.

This year marks a significant milestone with the introduction of a brand-new category: The Keith Baldwin Award. Named in honour of HTM’s founder, Keith Baldwin, the award recognises individuals who truly exemplify the culture and values upon which the company was built.

To qualify for this prestigious award, shortlisted employees must have been nominated for a minimum of three different company values, reflecting the depth and breadth of their commitment. These values – ingrained throughout the organisation by Keith himself – remain at the heart of everything HTM does. The award pays tribute to those who consistently embody the HTM ethos through their behaviour, decision-making, and contribution to the wider team.

“We are incredibly proud to introduce the Keith Baldwin Award this year,” said Managing Director Greg Baldwin, son of Keith Baldwin.

“Dad’s vision and values continue to shape the way we work, collaborate, and serve our customers. This award allows us to recognise individuals who truly live those values every day and have demonstrated more than one in their role.”

The Streets Ahead Awards continue to shine a spotlight on exceptional performance across all areas of the business, celebrating innovation, teamwork, leadership, and the unwavering dedication shown by HTM colleagues.

This year, the business invited their Employee Voice Reps to join the judging process, with these 5 employees getting to have a say with who they feel is a deserving winner.

The judging process is always conducted blindly, with any identifying information removed from the nominations, to ensure a fair scoring process.

Directors Greg Baldwin and Marcus Casey make up part of the panel, with this year’s guest judges comprising of Ian Davies from Kier, Adam Mills from Up to Speed Training & Assessments Ltd, and Michael Doolin, Clover HR.

Clover HR announced the sad news of Michael’s passing last week, so as Michael had said some words about Keith at the 23-24 Streets Ahead Awards, Greg Baldwin shared some words at the 24-25 event in respect of Michael and his impact upon local Birmingham businesses, and HTM’s own business growth and challenges faces over the years where Clover HR and Michael had been instrumental in supporting HTM.

“Michael was instrumental in the development and growth of HTM as a business and us all as individuals. Always an advocate for the business and a genuine friend. We’re still extremely shocked and saddened by the news earlier this week, but we’ll be sure to always remember the part Michael played at HTM and in our lives. He’ll be deeply missed,” shared Greg.

This year’s event was also the final year that the Mental Health value will be recognised, as the company has updated this value to Wellbeing.

Matt Higgs, HSEQ Director, explained: “This update reflects the reality that mental health is a part of our wider, overall wellbeing. By widening our lens, we can create a healthier, more supportive environment for everyone at HTM, with support systems that respect people’s whole selves and take into account all influencing factors to their wellbeing.”

As the business celebrated its 30th birthday earlier this year, the company had one last birthday surprise up their slive, as they hid a £30 Prezzee giftcard underneath one of the chairs in the room. This was announced by Marcus, and attendees had to search under their chair for the golden ticket, which was won by TM Operative Ezra Mckenzie.

Marcus Casey said: “Our commitment to being Streets Ahead, our ability to grow and evolve, is what has got us to this milestone, and we know that it is our people, the people within this room, who really understand and demonstrate our culture, are the reason we are successful.”
