- HTM Celebrate Another Successful Event at Highways UK
On 16th and 17th November 2025, Highway Traffic Management returned to Hall 5 at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) Birmingham for Highways UK, one of the biggest industry events in the calendar.
HTM was back exhibiting at the event, which features a number of stages and theatres for panel sessions, keynote speakers and presentations catering for the Highways sector.
The business had the same stand design as last year, featuring clean-cut black structures, perspex windows and slatted wooden backdrops to mirror their office headquarters, part of their move towards increasing their sustainability.
“We’ve always had really great engagement with attendees with our interactive writing wall, and this year was no different, as we asked attendees to share the best professional advice they ever had. Recruitment of the next generation into the industry is going to be vital, so we wanted to gather some advice that can support newcomers to the Highways sector,”said Marketing & Communications Manager, Flora Donnelly.
The wall also featured a voting section with perspex boxes and ping-pong balls for attendees to use to cast their votes on what is the most prevalent social value topic to them.
“Social value is so important and it is something that businesses need to prioritise,” said MD, Greg Baldwin.
“We wanted to take the opportunity to ask attendees about the social value initiatives that mattered the most to them and to see if there were any particular themes emerging from the sector. This was a great conversation starter and it was interesting to hear people’s perspectives on this.”
A total of 237 votes were cast over the course of the event in answer to the question:
“Which social value initiatives matter most to you?”
- Health and Wellbeing – 37.1%
- Education and Skills – 23.6%
- Environmental – 17.7%
- Community Projects – 16.5%
- Volunteering – 5.1%
“As a business we focus a lot on wellbeing, both physical and mental, so it’s interesting to see that health is at the top of the list for most of the attendees,” Greg continued.
The temporary traffic management company also invited attendees to go head to head with them at their ‘Beat the Buzzer’ game, which saw them try and beat the HTM team at the buzzer, for the chance to win a £50 Prezzee gift card. Congratulations to Christopher Cordy from National Highways who has been crowned our winner, with an impressive top score of 131 against the HTM side.
“It’s always such a fantastic event to attend as it’s a great networking opportunity,” commented Business Director, Marcus Casey. “We’ve come away from the show having had a number of positive conversations with clients and new contacts, which is always exciting.”
HTM also asked attendees to share the best professional advice they had ever received, which entered them into a prize draw to win a £50 Prezzee gift card. The winner for the prize draw has been picked at random. Congratulations to Murray Hopwood from OnSite Support Ltd who won the prize draw.
Danny Thorn, Head of Development, said: “The highways sector and all the various trades and services this encompasses, including temporary traffic management, isn’t particularly known about within schools, colleges and universities. We wanted to take the opportunity to get advice from people who have been part of the industry for some time, so we can share this with people considering starting a career in the sector.”
“At HTM, we are trying to do this through the new Traffic Management Apprenticeship, but there are so many other avenues into our industry that we need to shout about; HTM offer a huge amount of support through their internal training programmes, such as our Highways Awards shortlisted ‘Competency Assessment Programme’, which can support people from all backgrounds joining our business
HTM will be returning in 2025 for the Highways UK exhibition.
