- Highway Traffic Management Support Lincoln Pride
Highway Traffic Management Ltd (HTM) is proud to announce its successful delivery of temporary traffic management services for Lincoln Pride 2024. Held on August 17th, the vibrant celebration of diversity and inclusion in Lincoln saw thousands of attendees march through the city centre for the event, which brings together the LGBTQ+ community, allies, and the wider public for a day filled with performances, parades, and festivities.
As with any large-scale event, effective traffic management was essential to guarantee the safety of both participants and the general public, ensuring minimal disruption to local traffic. HTM was contacted to provide comprehensive traffic management solutions for the event, including the planning, installation, and maintenance of all necessary temporary traffic measures. The services provided by HTM included:
- Road Closures and Diversions: Implementing necessary road closures and diversions to ensure the safe passage of the parade and event-goers.
- Signage and Communication: Erecting clear and effective signage to inform drivers and pedestrians of the event and related road closures, while also providing real-time updates through digital channels.
- Collaboration with Authorities: Coordinating closely with local authorities, Lincolnshire Police, Lincolnshire County Council (LCC) and Lincoln Pide event organizers to ensure compliance with all safety regulations and to respond swiftly to any on-the-day changes or emergencies.
HTM’s efforts ensured that the event ran smoothly, with minimal disruption to the traffic travelling through the city. The company has plenty of experience within event management, but had not yet supported events within Lincoln.
“We’re pleased to have been able to support organisers in ensuring the safe and timely delivery of traffic management solutions to facilitate the Lincoln Pride event,” said Senior Contracts Coordinator, Ben Smith. “A lot of our existing contracts are with Lincolnshire County Council on large scheme works, so it’s been a great opportunity for us to demonstrate our skills within event management in Lincoln.”
Marcus Casey, Business Director at HTM, commented, “We are delighted to have supported Lincoln Pride 2024. This event is a key highlight in the city’s calendar, and we are proud to have contributed to its success.”
Lincoln Pride representatives David Brown, Sponsorship & Operations Director and Jason Reid, Chair, shared their thoughts:
“This year marks the 10th anniversary of Lincoln Pride, and we were determined to make it an unforgettable event. I’m thrilled to say that we certainly achieved that goal! Lincoln Pride is a free event dedicated to celebrating diversity, equity, and inclusion in Lincoln,” said David.
“Unfortunately, this year has also seen a significant rise in LGBTQ+ hate crimes in Lincolnshire, underscoring the importance of Pride.
“We are immensely grateful for the support from HTM, who not only sponsored our parade but also professionally managed our road closures and traffic/crowd management.”
“The whole traffic management team did a great job for the parade and we look forward to working with HTM again in future for Lincoln Pride,” said Jason.
