Highway Traffic Management is included in the 7th annual edition of the Financial Times 1000 Europe’s Fastest Growing Companies.

The ranking is an annual special report published by the financial times which went to print on 21st March, with HTM named among the listed companies due to its fast, organic, sustainable growth. The report measured revenue and headcount between 2018 and 2021, where HTM increased its absolute revenue growth by 171.8%.

HTM is one of the longer established companies on the list, amongst many start ups and IT and software groups, demonstrating the significant growth the company has experienced, notably since new leadership within the company in 2019.

The criteria focused on independent companies of all sizes whose revenue was internally simulated, with HTM ranking 902nd on the list that is compiled with data provider, Statista.

The list required all companies to meet the following criteria in order to be included;

  • revenue of at least €100,000 generated in 2018
  • revenue of at least €1.5mn generated in 2021
  • that the company is independent (not a subsidiary or branch office of any kind)
  • the revenue growth between 2018 and 2021 was primarily organice (ie “internally” stimulated)
  • if a company is listed on the stock exchange,its share price has not fallen 75 percent or more since 2021

For Highway Traffic Management, the growth has come from an increased market share on existing contracts as well as expanded geographical expansion into new regions such as Lincolnshire.

“Our big achievement over the past few years was the growth, however inclusion in the FT special report gives everyone involved context of the scale of what we’ve all achieved,” said HTM’s Managing Director, Greg Baldwin.

“Back in 2019 we were given the autonomy to develop the new board’s direction. We’d previously talked a lot about making the business scalable, so seeing that we were able to turn that work into significant growth over the past few years has been amazing.”

Keith Baldwin, Founder and Chairman of HTM, commented: “Being recognised in a Financial Times Report is something I’d never imagine us being included in when we first started the company. It’s unbelievable really! I grew the business steadily from 1995 to when I passed over the reigns to the new board, headed by Greg in early 2019. Where they’re now taking it is beyond anyone’s comprehension and expectations. They’ve worked to get the right people in the right positions and if you can get that right, everything else seems to fall in place. I couldn’t be any prouder of this achievement.”

The company has continued to grow from 2021 and is hoping to be included in the 2024 list due to the continued growth seen in 2022 and hoping that 2023 will continue to bring.
