Highway Traffic Management Limited (HTM) is proud to announce a new community partnership with Lincoln Christ’s Hospital School (LCHS), focused on creating meaningful and measurable social value by supporting young people and families across the Lincoln area.

Lincoln Christ’s Hospital School educates approximately 1,200 students aged 11–17 and serves a catchment area that includes three of the most deprived estates in the county. Many pupils face challenges linked to poverty and social disadvantage, and the school is recognised as one of the city’s schools supporting the highest levels of social need. Despite these challenges, LCHS continues to deliver positive outcomes, with only 2% of students not in education, employment or training (NEET) at age 16, and a strong focus on employability, further education and active community engagement.

The partnership between HTM and LCHS has been developed to support students both in and beyond the classroom, while strengthening links between local education and industry. Through this collaboration, HTM will provide support across a range of initiatives, including:

  • Careers and employability support, such as attendance at careers fairs, apprenticeship talks, CV workshops and mock interviews, helping students gain insight into real-world career pathways within highways, logistics and infrastructure.
  • Community and wellbeing initiatives, including ongoing support for the school’s food bank and Christmas food drive, helping families experiencing financial hardship during the cost of living crisis.
  • STEM and sustainability projects, including support for the school’s participation in the Greenpower Project, a national competition where students design, build and race electric-powered cars, promoting engineering skills and environmental awareness.
  • Donations in kind and sponsorship, supporting extracurricular activities, sports teams and enrichment projects that promote inclusion, confidence and wellbeing.

Today marks an important first milestone in the partnership, as HTM delivered all donations collected during its month-long food drive. These donations will be used by the school to create food parcels for students and families within the school and wider local community who are in need.

Commenting on the partnership, Kayleigh Sheward, ESG Coordinator at Highway Traffic Management, said:

“This partnership is about creating real, lasting impact within the community we operate in. Lincoln Christ’s Hospital School is doing incredible work to support young people facing significant challenges, and we’re proud to play a role in helping students build confidence, develop practical skills and access future career opportunities. Initiatives like the food drive and Greenpower Project reflect our commitment to social value, sustainability and long-term community investment.”

Ben Smith, Lincoln Operations Manager at Highway Traffic Management, added:

“As a local employer, it’s important to us that we actively support the communities around our Lincoln depot. Working closely with Lincoln Christ’s Hospital School allows us to give something back locally, while also inspiring young people to consider careers within highways and infrastructure. The response from our team to the food drive has been fantastic, along with great support with this from our clients Balfour Beatty Living Places and Lincolnshire County Council. This is just the beginning of what we hope will be a long and positive partnership.”

This partnership forms part of HTM’s wider commitment to social responsibility and community investment. By working closely with LCHS, HTM will be able to deliver measurable social value, support local young people to develop skills and aspirations, and help build a stronger, more resilient community in Lincoln.

HTM looks forward to developing this partnership further and sharing updates as new initiatives and activities are delivered in collaboration with Lincoln Christ’s Hospital School.
