If there’s one lesson from our journey so far, it’s this: long-term success requires both culture and strategy.
Culture alone can make a business well-liked, but without a strategy, it risks standing still. Strategy alone can deliver short-term wins, but without culture, it rarely endures. It’s the combination of the two — a strong sense of identity paired with a clear plan for growth — that has allowed HTM not only to survive but to thrive for three decades.
A Story of Growth and Recognition
Our story began in the West Midlands, with our Founder and my Dad, Keith Baldwin, at the helm. However, over time, we’ve expanded our footprint into Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, and beyond. We’ve grown into a team of over 280+ direct staff with a further 200+ support staff in peak periods, recognised twice in the Financial Times FT1000 list of Europe’s fastest-growing companies, accredited with ISO 44001, a benchmark for collaborative business relationships, and successfully navigated a few recessions and a pandemic.
We’ve also embraced innovation, such as the introduction of Dad’s low-level traffic management vehicle concept, which reimagined safety and efficiency in our industry. Each of these milestones has been shaped by clear strategic choices, but powered by the culture of collaboration, resilience, and trust that underpins our work.
Doing ‘Good’ Business
At HTM, we talk often about doing “good business.” For us, that has a dual meaning: it’s about being commercially strong and forward-looking, while also doing the right thing by our people, our partners, and our communities. This philosophy has allowed us to build enduring partnerships, attract talented colleagues, and continually innovate in how we serve the industry.
Built on Legacy, Driven by the Future
As we mark 30 years, we celebrate the legacy built by our founder, clients, and people. But this milestone isn’t about looking back — it’s about using our history as a springboard for what comes next.
The next 30 years will demand even more of us: sharper strategies to navigate changing markets and new challenges, and a culture that continues to evolve without losing its foundations. Together, they will remain the twin pillars of our success.
At HTM, we believe the true test of any business is not how quickly it can grow, but how well it can endure. Three decades on, our blend of culture and strategy has proven its strength — and it is this balance that will carry us confidently into the future.
