Equality

As a business who strives to be Streets Ahead, at HTM we want to continue that approach when it comes to inclusion, gender equality and diversity.

This means promoting inclusivity and diversity within our own workforce as well as within the wider TTM industry, which is one that lacks sufficient female representation.

We are looking to break down the barriers and challenge the stereotype of what a traffic management operative looks like or in fact, what the industry as a whole looks like.

Equal Opportunities Employer

HTM strives hard to prevent, reduce and stop all forms of unlawful discrimination, which is outline within the Equal Opportunities Policy. The company has a EDI strategy that has been put in place to ensure that we continue to provide equal opportunities for all at HTM, including champions at Director and Senior Management Level for key areas of focus.

Policies

As a business we have policies in place to help nurture our inclusive working environment and provide guidance to our workforce. This includes policies such as our Carers Policy, Family Friendly Policy and Modern Day Slavery policy.

Disability Confident Committed

HTM are a Disability Confident Committed workforce which means that the business:
- Ensures the recruitment process is inclusive and accessible
- Communicates and promotes vacancies through a range of channels
- Offer interviews through Positive Action
- Anticipate and provide reasonable adjustments as required
- Support existing employees to remain in employment

Flexible Working

HTM understand that no one size fits all, which is where we have been able to support people in work and to remain in work, through flexible working and part time working.

Celebrating Diversity

HTM looks to celebrate diversity and various different cultures across our workforce, be it through educational posts on our internal platforms to events such as local Pride parades. We know that our differences are what make us unique and that it's important we celebrate and shout about them.

Employee Networks

HTM support and facilitate employee networks that enable our workforce to connect and engage with one another, from our LGBTQ+ group Flare, to our Target40 female group.

Support Women in Business

HTM support women in business with business policies for the menopause and enhanced maternity pay for those who meet the criteria. We have also become Women into Construction Gold Members to demonstrate our commitment to an equal and diverse workforce.

Target 40

As a business who strives to be Streets Ahead, at HTM we want to continue that approach when it comes to inclusion, gender equality and diversity. This means promoting inclusivity and diversity within our own workforce as well as within the wider TTM industry, which is one that lacks sufficient female representation.

This has led to the creation of an initiative called ‘Target 40’, which acts as an aim for our business to increase the number of females within operational roles by introducing an additional 40 women into the business. Once we reach this milestone, this will become a target of 40% representation across our operational workforce.

We know that this target isn’t going to be easy, which is why we are looking to break down the barriers and challenge the stereotype of what a traffic management operative looks like or in fact, what the industry as a whole looks like. We are actively recruiting female operatives across each of our depot locations. If you’re looking for a new challenge within the construction industry, this could be the role for you.

To do this we are speaking to the women within our workforce already, getting insight into what life is like working as a female within the industry and getting feedback as to what more we could be doing to encourage women into the industry. This has enabled us to shape the whole process, from application to interview to day 1 on the job.
